The Faculty of Education at the University of Prince Edward Island invites applications for a tenure track position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, pending budgetary approval.  We are seeking a new colleague with expertise in Educational Leadership and experiential background and continued academic interest in International Education and Global Citizenship to join a dynamic and resourceful team of educators. This position would begin on July 1, 2019.

The Faculty of Education at UPEI is a small, vibrant team of educators committed to developing compassionate, collaborate and innovative teachers and to building just and equitable relationships in local and global communities.  The Faculty offers 12-month Bachelor of Education programs in English and in French Education. With specializations in Indigenous Education, International Education, and Adult Education, our BEd programs have a strong focus on issues pertaining to diversity, equity and social justice in local and global communities. At the graduate level, the Master of Education degree in Leadership and Learning is offered in both course-based and thesis-based streams on campus as well as in online and blended formats. We also offer an on-site PhD in Educational Studies.

The successful candidate will be expected to provide academic leadership to the specialization in International Education, and to offer courses related to educational leadership and international development at the BEd and graduate levels.  Successful candidates will be required to supervise BEd student teachers, and MEd and PhD thesis students. Service, such as committee work, to the Faculty of Education and the university will be expected. A valid driver’s license is required.

Preferred candidates will hold a doctoral degree in education in a related field. A Bachelor of Education degree and a successful record of school teaching in the K-12 context are essential.  Experience in a university context, educational leadership at the school or system level, and/or teaching experience in international educational contexts will be strong assets.  Preferred applicants will have experience in online teaching, and a sound understanding of contemporary critical issues in education. In addition, qualifications and experience in teaching English as an additional language (EAL) and knowledge of a language other than English would be an asset in the position.
