The Asian Studies Programme at the University of Prince Edward Island invites applications for a Sessional Instructor for the fall semester 2016 (Sept.–Dec.) We are seeking a qualified language instructor to teach two (2) classes of the following credit course in Asian Studies.  This position is subject to enrolment and final budgetary approval.

A ST 101 and 101J – “Introduction to Japanese I” (TTh 2:30–3:45 and MWF 10:30-11:20)

This course is intended for students with no proficiency in Japanese at all.  It provides an introduction to the modern Japanese language, through the study of basic pronunciation, vocabulary, and grammar.  It includes numerous oral drills, frequent written exercises, short oral presentations, and simple readings.  Cross-listed with Modern Languages 101J.

Successful applicants should have relevant university degrees and enough experience in teaching Japanese as a second or foreign language at an academic college level.  Please note priority will be given to qualified individuals on the sessional roster of the academic unit.
