This position will be supervised by two Research faculty members and will service several research projects that will cover such areas as surgical hand preparation, veterinary public health and infrared diagnostic modalities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Duties include assisting faculty, residents and laboratory technical staff with research projects. This lab’s focus is in the areas of surgical hand preparation methods, veterinary public health, specifically antimicrobial resistance and zoonotic diseases, and infrared diagnostic modalities for immunoglobulin disorders.  The successful applicant may be asked to focus primarily on one or two project(s) but will be expected to participate in other projects in any of the above disciplines when needed.  Some of the research projects could provide excellent training in bacteriology lab techniques, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), nucleic acid extraction, the 3M Petrifilm system and real-time PCR assays. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Computer literacy and previous lab experience (especially with bacteriology or FTIR) will be an asset.
• Preference will be given to veterinary students.
