$46,207 - $50,832 per annum, prorated to time and term as per CUPE 1870 (salary under review)
Term: 

As soon as possible until March 29, 2013 (Term may be reduced or extended depending on performance, available funding and departmental requirements.)

The University of Prince Edward Island invites applications from qualified individuals for a temporary part-time position as a research technician.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidate will provide general laboratory management and specialized research support to faculty for in-vivo and in-vitro comparative biomedical research.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum qualifications include a B.Sc. in an appropriate discipline, 2 years experience in an analytical or research laboratory, with interest in comparative biomedical research. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in aquatic and rodent models of animal reproductive health are highly desirable. The applicant will be familiar with or willing to learn to handle aquatic and rodent species. The applicant will preferably possess practical knowledge and experience in basic light microscopy, fixation and histologic preparation of a variety of tissues.
Proficiencies in oral and written communication, computer-based data entry and analysis, and laboratory management are required. The successful candidate will have good interpersonal skills and ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
