The Faculty Development Office at UPEI reports to the Vice President Academic. The Vice President seeks a part-time program coordinator to support the activities of the Assistant Director of Faculty Development and the Senate Committee for Enhancement of Teaching.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The duties of the coordinator will include the following:
• Organize “Let’s Talk Teaching Day,” an opening day in September for all of campus
• Organize and run the Teaching Partners Program, a mentor program for new faculty who are paired with experienced faculty
• Organize informal brown bag lunches, seminars, and workshops related to teaching
• Organize the SCENT grants and other grants for teaching development and for travel to teaching conferences
• Maintain the library of Teaching materials
• Call meetings of SCENT
• Other duties as assigned to support activities of the FDO
During the contract, the priorities for the position will be working with the Interim Assistant Director of Faculty Development to develop a new model for mentoring faculty with the Teaching Partners Program, organizing the “Let’s Talk Teaching Day”, and supporting other FDO activities as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduate degree (PhD preferred); experience in university teaching; demonstrated effectiveness as a teacher; experience with delivery of professional development programs; excellent written and oral communication skills; and demonstrated ability to work independently with strong organizational skills..
