The Department of Companion Animals at the Atlantic Veterinary College, University of Prince Edward Island, invites applications for a part-time (0.5 FTE) 6 month term faculty position in Community Practice, with the possibility of renewal pending budgetary approval. Appointment will be made at the Lecturer level.

The successful applicant will join an established Community Practice program with two full-time community practice veterinarians and 1 technician.  Job duties and responsibilities include teaching in the undergraduate program and providing clinical service in the Veterinary Teaching Hospital. 

The successful candidate will have:

  • DVM (or equivalent) degree
  • Demonstrated teaching ability
  • Demonstrated skill in routine small animal surgical procedures and dentistry
  • Well-developed skills of collaboration, relationship building and communication
  • Eligibility for licensure with the Prince Edward Island Veterinary Medical Association

Preference will be given to candidates with diplomate status in the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners. A minimum of two years’ experience with exotic pets is highly desirable. A graduate degree is desirable but not mandatory.

The salary range is commensurate with credentials and experience.  Term faculty members receive a comprehensive fringe benefit package, with benefit details provided at time of offer in accordance with the collective agreement.  This appointment is subject to budgetary approval.
