Reporting to the Comptroller, the Manager, Financial Services will have managerial and supervisory responsibility for UPEI’s Accounting and Financial Reporting functions.  The areas of management and supervisory responsibility include Research and General Accounting, Student Accounts, Operating Budget and External Audit.  


• Manage and support key University accounting functions and processes including financial administration of the University’s:
• research fund
• award and endowment accounts
• student and other accounts
• Facilitate and execute process changes during the implementation of a new campus business system
• Supervise over a dozen unionized and non-unionized support staff
• Provide oversight and monitoring of internal controls
• Manage and co-ordinate the various external audits of the University
• Management of Operating Budget including budget development process, implementation and monitoring
• Financial reporting and analyses as required
• Committee work


• Undergraduate degree with an accounting designation (CPA)
• Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a university or similar setting or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Experience and skills in managing a number of staff at one time
• Detailed knowledge of and experience in working with computerized accounting systems, spreadsheets and database software
• Understanding of change management processes
• Strong analytical and decision making skills
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
