 The Office of the Vice-President Academic invites applications for the position of Program Coordinator, Faculty Development Office.
Reporting to the Director of the Faculty Development Office, the duties of this individual would be as follows:
• Provide leadership and support to SCENT (Senate Committee on the Enhancement of Teaching) events, programs, projects and initiatives.
• Represent UPEI at regional, national, and international meetings, conferences and committees related to faculty development and teaching and learning.
• Provide one-on-one support to faculty members.
• Solicit and develop teaching award nominations (e.g. AAU and 3M) for your colleagues.
• Organize “Brown Bag” lunch sessions on issues related to teaching and faculty development.
• Host the teaching dossier workshop.
• Lead the organization of the annual “Let’s Talk Teaching” Day.
New initiatives are subject to discussion but may include:
• Expanding support to specific groups, including new faculty and graduate students through a revitalization of the Teaching Partners Program.
• Participation in a program of professional development resulting in a teaching certificate for graduate students and/or faculty.
• Setting up an experimental classroom.
• Establishing professional learning communities/teaching interest groups.
• Establishing a peer-to-peer mentoring program for faculty.
• Providing targeted workshops to reflect the specific needs of Departments and Faculties/Schools.
• Revising grant mandates to meet future teaching and learning strategies and tools.
We are looking for individuals with a Masters or PhD degree with an interest in pedagogies for teaching and learning; experience in university teaching; demonstrated effectiveness as a teacher; strong oral and written communication and presentation skills; an ability to work effectively both individually and as members of the Faculty Development team; and a desire to make a contribution to the professional development of teaching colleagues.
