The Institute of Island Studies seeks a Publications Coordinator to manage the publishing activities of the Island Studies Press.

The Island Studies Press (ISP) is a highly successful academic publisher with a long history of outstanding, peer-reviewed award-winning publications on topics ranging from academic subject matter to general community interest. It publishes between two and four titles per year. We are seeking an exceptional individual to carry on this tradition and join the Island Studies team. The Publications Coordinator is responsible for the daily publishing and business activities of the Island Studies Press.

The Publications Coordinator works with a Publications Committee regarding editorial decisions and reports to the Executive Committee of the Institute of Island Studies. Further information about the ISP can be found at the website http://projects.upei.ca/isp/.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Managing the production and development of new book titles
• Marketing, distribution, sales and delivery of current catalogue titles
• Editing, design and print coordination
• Handling daily business activities of the Press

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Undergraduate degree in English, Journalism, Publishing or a cognate field and three years’ experience is required
• Excellent organizational skills, oral and written communications skills
• Experience in graphic design, print coordination and ability to use page-making software
• Be self-motivated, have ability to handle diverse tasks under deadlines, and will work well independently
