Five (5) Week Term- Veterinary Bacteriology Instructor - Department of Pathology and Microbiology - Atlantic Veterinary College
The Department of Pathology and Microbiology at the Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC), University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI), is seeking a term instructor(s) to assist in delivery of VPM 2010 Veterinary Bacteriology and Mycology course to second year DVM students. This appointment is subject to final budgetary approval.
VPM 2010 Veterinary Bacteriology and Mycology
This course is a four-credit core course taught to second year DVM students (approximate class size of 67) during the Fall semester (September to December). The course consists of 3 50-minute didactic lectures and 2 two-hour lab sessions every week. The labs are co-delivered with a Clinical Bacteriologist and a bacteriology technologist. The instructor(s) will be required to deliver approximately 50% of the course, which would run from October 15 to November 19, 2019. Applications to teach part of the course will also be considered. Details on the curricular content of this component of the course are available from the Department Chair. Student evaluations for the second half of the course will include a laboratory exam, and a final exam.
Qualifications:
Ideally, the candidate will hold the following credentials:
• DVM or equivalent degree.
• Advanced training or experience in veterinary bacteriology/mycology.
• Board certification with American College of Veterinary Microbiologists (ACVM).
Salary is commensurate with credentials and experience. Travel, accommodations, and car rental for the successful candidate will be provided during the term of the appointment.
