$54,242 to $59,645 per annum, prorated to time and term as per CUPE 1870

The Climate Research Lab is seeking a lead researcher for the 2017 field season to conduct work related to funded projects and assist in graduate research projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Conduct UAV missions related to ongoing projects
• Obtain appropriate permission from Transport Canada for UAV operation
• Train and assist on the safe operation of UAVs in research
• Train and assist on UAV data processing and analysis
• Assist in funding proposals and project design
• Provide GIS expertise for ongoing projects and proposals
• Develop coastal impact visualizations relating to ongoing projects
• Expectation to conduct literature reviews and contribute to journal articles

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Candidate must have significant experience flying UAVs including fixed wing and multirotor
• Extensive experience and knowledge of UAV best practices including data processing
• Expected to have a background in geospatial science
• Experience using a variety of software suites including; ArcGIS, Pix4D, Unity, Photoshop, Mission Planner, Drone Deploy, Flight Planner
• Civil and Commercial UAS Training Course Certified
• ROC-A certified
• Programming experience
• Experience managing large spatial datasets
• Must be able to work as part of and team and independently as necessary
• Must be self-motivated
• Master’s Degree required
