Orientation Week Coordinator
Hours of Work: 

37.5 hours per week (April 15 – August 31, 2015)
15 hours per week (Sept 1 - Sept 30, 2015)

$11.11 per hour (vacation pay included)

April 15th to September 30th, 2015 (Hours flexible including days, evenings, and weekends)

The orientation week coordinator is a unique opportunity for a current UPEI student. The successful applicant will be mentored in communications, event planning, leadership and other critical skills in order to successfully organize and run orientation week for 700 incoming UPEI students. We are looking for someone who has the energy, natural leadership skills and the organization skills necessary to sustain 5 months of planning and one very busy week. No previous experience or knowledge of orientation week required.


The successful candidate will:
• Work with the UPEI Student Union to develop and deliver Orientation Week Program for fall 2015
• Facilitate community and business partnerships for Orientation Week
• Recruit and lead a team of 70+ student volunteers to deliver the Orientation Week
• Utilize various modes of communication, including Facebook pages, Twitter and the UPEI Orientation webpage, to communicate with students and respond to questions and requests
• Maintain statistical data for various aspects of O-Week activities and events
• Monitor and maintain an Orientation Week budget
• Contribute to the day to day operations of UPEI Student Union
• Other related and administrative duties as required


The following qualifications are required:
• Minimum of 2nd year standing; must be returning to UPEI in the fall
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Experience in a leadership role
• Be a self starter; the ability to work with minimal supervision
• Familiarity with computers and social media platforms
• Knowledgeable of UPEI Student Union and UPEI programs, services, and facilities
• Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
• Hold a valid driver’s license
