$43,735 - $48,112 per annum, as per CUPE 1870 (salary under review)

The Robertson Library is seeking applications for a qualified individual to work under the direction of the Digital Initiatives and Systems Librarian.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing software and hardware systems support services to the Robertson Library including: installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of server hardware, networks, and software related to the Library’s online services including its Integrated Library System (Evergreen), repository framework, and other Library related systems (eg. Z39.50, EZProxy, GODOT OpenURL Resolver); support and administration of the Library’s Drupal-based website; training and support for the Robertson Library staff; liaising and collaborating with Information Technology Systems & Services (ITSS) and other campus and external groups; working with the Virtual Research Environment (VRE) development team on support and maintenance of the Library’s VRE system (eg. Islandora, Fedora, Djatoka, Solr, data migration and preservation); and other systems and hardware support expertise as needed by the Library. The successful candidate will work with Library staff on a variety of activities as needed.

Applicants should have: a post-secondary degree in computer/information technology or equivalent credentials/experience; 3-4 year's experience working in a variety of systems support environments; experience maintaining Intel-based servers; advanced sysadmin expertise with Linux (especially Debian and CentOS), Windows Server and OS X Server; knowledge of Internet networking, application, database (especially PostgreSQL) and programming/scripting tools; administrator knowledge of Drupal; familiarity with the Islandora Repository Framework would be an asset; familiarity with help desk/support environments and tools; experience with the open source community and philosophy; expertise with LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP/Python/Perl) tools; strong commitment to enhancing service through teamwork and responsiveness to clients; and knowledge of the operation and support of the server and software environment as it applies to Library Systems.

Applicants must have the ability to: communicate effectively with UPEI staff, members of the Islandora open source community, as well as technical staff at other universities; and the ability to create appropriate technical and training documentation/materials for applications and services. Strong communication, organizational, and collaborative skills are essential, and experience working in an academic library setting would be an asset.
