Student Research Assistants (Up to 2 Positions)
Hours of Work: 

15 - 40 hours per week 

$11.70 per hour (vacation pay included)

May 1, 2017 – August 31, 2017

The Department of Biomedical Sciences is seeking applications for one or two temporary student research assistant positions. 


• The position is required to work in a lab, under the direction of Dr. Sunny Hartwig, to perform PCR genotyping, dissections, process kidney tissue slides using immunofluorescence microscopy and perform image analysis using ImageJ and other NIH software
• The work entails highly focused and exact processing of several thousand digital images in a dark room


• The student must have excellent computer proficiency in ImageJ and other programs and expertise in microscopy
• Prior laboratory experience is a requirement and must be documented in a letter of support from a current UPE faculty member
• Other qualifications include very strong academic record (A average or higher), a very strong work ethic, excellence in image analysis, very strong focus, and independence
• Strong references demonstrating these skills are required

Priority is given to University of Prince Edward Island students in accordance with Recruitment, Selection, Hiring and Employment Policies and Procedures manual.
