$10.92 per hour (vacation pay included)

The Atlantic Veterinary College offers two, one week junior day camps for youth entering grades 7, 8 and 9 in the 2016/2017 school year and two, one-week senior day camps for those entering grades 10, 11 and 12 in the 2016/2017 school year.  The national award-winning Dr. Tim Ogilvie AVC Vet Camp provides a high quality, hands on educational opportunity unlike any other in Canada.


AVC Vet Camp Counsellors assist the AVC Vet Camp Coordinator, as well as the AVC Special Events Assistant, with the day to day operations of the AVC Vet Camp.  More information about the AVC Vet Camp can be found at www.upei.ca/avc/camp


• Must possess strong organizational and leadership skills  
• Must possess good oral and written communication skills
• Must be a self-starter, enthusiastic and creative
• Counsellors must have the ability to work independently to teach, motivate and supervise the activities of campers
• Familiarity with animals and animal handling is a requirement
• Preference will be given to DVM students who have completed at least one year of the DVM program (by summer 2016); however students in other disciplines will be considered
• Prior experience as camp leader or counsellor would be an asset
• First aid certification is preferred although candidates who are willing to complete certification will be considered

Priority will be given to University of Prince Edward Island students in accordance with Recruitment, Selection, Hiring and Employment Policies and Procedures manual.
