37.5 hours per week (irregular hours may lead to variable work weeks)

Salary: 
$10.74 per hour (vacation pay included)

May 7, 2012 for approximately 12-14 weeks

We are anticipating a need for one to three students, for up to 14 weeks this summer with the AVC Centre for Aquatic Health Sciences, depending on success in funding applications and interest of qualified individuals. A short list of qualified applicants will be created and students will be hired as the project is funded. The position(s) will be based out of St. George, NB or Charlottetown, PE. Students will be expected to travel to various aquaculture sites (including sea cage sites), providing an excellent opportunity to learn about local aquaculture species and their associated fish health issues in a production setting.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful applicant(s) will assist with carrying out various aspects of data and sample collection for fish health production and diagnostic laboratory based research projects. Tasks are often repetitive and require attention to detail.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Students must be enrolled in a BSc program and have prior experience or documented strong interest in working with aquatic species in a research or production setting (field or laboratory), data entry and computer skills, organizational skills, record-keeping, fish farm or hatchery husbandry skills, and knowledge of farm biosecurity practices. Knowledge of boat handling and watercraft safety is an asset. The ability to work independently and also as a member of a team is required. A valid driver’s license is required.
