This summer, three DVM students are required to work on dairy cattle projects with Maritime Quality Milk in the AVC Department of Health Management.  This year, the students will work primarily on data collection for infectious disease and calf health projects, but duties may include other activities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• On-farm sample collection from animals and data collection
• Data entry and processing
• Assistance with laboratory procedures
• Literature searching and processing
• Study coordination (including contacting producers by phone, arranging visits, etc.)
• Other duties as assigned by Maritime Quality Milk faculty and staff
• There may be opportunities to accompany Farm Service clinicians on routine farm calls when clinical rotations are not offered during the summer

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Completion of at least one year of DVM program
• Good communication skills and inter-personal skills
• Strong computer skills
• Extensive experience with cattle in a farming and/or veterinary setting
• Demonstration of a strong interest in ruminant herd health are desirable
