The Department of Biology at the University of Prince Edward Island invites applications for a 9-month term position at the Lecturer or Assistant Professor level to teach 2 introductory biology courses and 2 elective courses in the areas of Environmental Biology and Organismal Biology. The introductory courses are BIO 1010 (Current Issues in Environmental Biology) in Fall 2018 and BIO 1320 (Introduction to Organisms) during Winter 2019.  There are several electives that may be taught, including BIO 3350 (Animal Behaviour) and BIO 4130 (Conservation Genetics) in the winter semester, depending on expertise. These courses have labs associated with them, but teaching assistance is available.

UPEI is a small, dynamic university with a strong commitment to teaching and research excellence. The Biology Department (https://www.upei.ca/programsandcourses/biology) is the largest of the departments in the Faculty of Science. Our undergraduate students may graduate with a BSc or Honours, a specialization (Life Sciences, Environmental Biology) or an articulated degree (Bachelor of Wildlife Conservation; Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology; Bachelor of Science in Paramedicine). Our graduate students and faculty research interests are in the broad areas of aquatic and marine ecology and toxicology, terrestrial ecology and botany, and health sciences.

Applicants must hold a M.Sc. or Ph.D. in a related field, and should be committed to excellence in undergraduate teaching.  Documented experience teaching university level courses would be a definite asset. 

Salary: Commensurate with experience as per the Collective Agreement of the UPEI Faculty Association, Bargaining Unit #1 (https://files.upei.ca/hr/agreements/2016-2020_upeifa_bu1_final.pdf). This appointment is subject to final budgetary approval.
