$51,110 - $56,200 per annum pro-rated to term as per CUPE 1870

As soon as possible for two-year term (Term may be reduced or extended depending on performance, available funding and departmental requirements.) 

UPEI is looking for an E-Learning Instructional Designer. Working within the Elearning Office of the Centre for Life-Long Learning, this person would assist faculty by consulting in the design, development, and delivery of online courses. The position is both a support position for faculty already committed to working in an online environment and a training/outreach position to build capacity across the University. The successful candidate will have the right blend of technical expertise, educational experience and people skills required to provide the best support possible to UPEI faculty.


Specific duties include:
• Providing consultation and support for faculty
• Creating guidelines, training tools and learning resources to support faculty designing online and/or blended courses
• Providing instructional design services
• Reviewing completed online courses
• Identifying electronic resources and teaching tools that may be incorporated in online course delivery
• Conducting workshops face-to-face and online
• Researching current trends in learning delivery online
• Participating in strategic discussions and committees for online learning at UPEI
• Tracking success in online learning at UPEI


We are seeking a person with:
• A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Education or an area related to online instructional design
• A minimum of three year's experience working in an online instructional                environment, preferably within a university or college setting
• Experience with a course management system and online/distance learning delivery
• Knowledge of instructional design and pedagogical practices for online and         blended learning
• Ability to conduct training and provide support to faculty face-to-face and at a       distance
• Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communications skills
• Ability to prioritize, organize and manage multiple tasks with minimal                   supervision
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Awareness of and experience with social media technologies
• Competency in Moodle, Google Apps, and sound and video editing programs.  Competency in Wordpress, Drupal, and Blackboard Collaborate considered an asset.
