Salary: 
$35,029 - $38,542 per annum, as per CUPE 1870 (salary under review)

The Department of Companion Animals is seeking applications from qualified individuals for a permanent full-time administrative support position. This employee will provide a wide variety of reception, secretarial & administrative support services in a fast-paced office environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful applicant will report directly to the Chairman of the Department of Companion Animals, and will provide reception, secretarial & administrative support within the department. This includes telephone/reception; inquiries; typing; maintaining filing systems and scheduling meetings.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
• Grade 12 & successful completion of a medical secretarial / administrative program.
• Relevant years of experience.
• A combination of experience and education may be considered.
• Working knowledge & experience in computers & computer systems (i.e., word processing & spread sheet applications, electronic scheduling programs like Doodle or GroupWise).
• Demonstrated ability to work with others while meeting regular deadlines.
• Demonstrated effective interpersonal & communication skills.
• Demonstrated experience in handling multiple tasks amid changing priorities.
• Possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work with minimum supervision.
• Excellent organization skills & clear understanding of the importance of confidentiality.
• Ability to function as an effective member of a team.
• Other duties as required.
Definite Assets:
• Familiarity with the university environment and university policies & procedures.
• Familiarity with the academic / curricular programs, policies & procedures at the Atlantic Veterinary College.
• Previous experience in working with students.
• Previous experience with computer management information systems.
