Dr. James Polson is seeking one undergraduate research assistant to work on a project using computer simulation methods to study polymer translocation.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The student will write a Monte Carlo simulation program, which will be used to perform free energy calculations and study the dynamics of polymer translocation through a nanopore.
The simulations will be run on a multi-node computer cluster. The student will also analyze the resulting data and compare the results with theoretical predictions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful candidate will have completed his/her second year of study in an undergraduate physics program at a minimum. He/she should have some experience with computer programming. In addition, the student should have completed a course on either thermodynamics or statistical physics.
