RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the Director of the Centre for Life-Long Learning, the Manager of Professional Development Programs will provide leadership and direction for the development and delivery of continuing education, executive and professional development, and training programs. The position will determine the demand for professional education and development, and develop and market courses to meet that demand.
The position will have responsibility for a number of professional development programs currently offered by the Centre. The position will be responsible for the continued quality of these programs and for the development of new programs as required.
The incumbent will be directly involved in the following:
• Conducting market research to examine emerging trends in professional development programming.
• Establishing and delivering customized programming and services.
• Developing an annual calendar of executive and professional development programs.
• Recruiting facilitators, managing policies related to program development, supervising employees, establishing contracts, and managing the unit budget.
• Promoting UPEI programs through partnership development, outreach planning, proposal writing and social networks.
• Developing and delivering workshops as part of the Centre’s core program.
• Monitoring and evaluating program quality and providing feedback to facilitators.

QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful candidate will preferably have a Masters Degree in Adult Education. At a minimum, they must have an Undergraduate Degree with a Certificate in Adult Education as well as extensive knowledge and experience in an adult learning environment.
The ideal candidate’s previous work/ educational experience must demonstrate:
• Strong entrepreneurial skills demonstrating creativity and initiative.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Excellent research, strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent oral, written and presentation skills.
• Strong interpersonal and relationship building ability.
• Experience in the development and delivery of training programs.
• Experience in working in a team environment.
