The Department of Modern Languages at the University of Prince Edward Island invites applications to teach the following courses during the Academic Year 2018-2019. These positions are subject to final budgetary approval.

Fall Semester:

ML 1010: Introduction to Mi’kmaq Language and Culture I
This course is intended for students with no proficiency in the language. This course provides an introduction to the language in question, through the study of pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar. It includes numerous oral drills, frequent written exercises, short oral presentations and simple readings.

Sept. 3 – Dec. 19, 2018
Three hours a week
3 hours credit

Winter Semester:

ML 1020: Introduction to Mi’kmaq Language and Culture II
This course is intended for students with no proficiency in the language. This course is a continuation of Modern Languages 1010. It provides further study of vocabulary and grammar and introduces aspects of civilization.

3 hours credit

Qualifications:
Successful applicants should have a relevant degree and enough experience in teaching Mi’kmaq as a second or foreign language at an academic college level. 

Preference will be given to qualified candidates with seniority on the UPEI Sessional Roster in the academic unit.
