$25.00 per hour (Grant funded, vacation pay included)

The Young Lives Research Lab is seeking a Senior Research Associate to coordinate tasks related to research, evaluation, and knowledge translation for a research project on Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) Scale-Up in Atlantic Canada. The Senior Research Associate will be supervised by Dr. Kate Tilleczek, Director, Dr. Brandi Bell, Postdoctoral Research Fellow & Assistant Director, and Dr. Tracy Deyell, Postdoctoral Research Fellow.


• Prepare REB application, including creation of research instruments
• Prepare research approval applications to school boards
• Recruit study participants, following approved ethical research protocols
• Network with individuals and organizations across Atlantic Canada
• Conduct surveys, interviews, and focus groups (will require travel throughout   NL, NB, and NS)
• Assist in development of knowledge dissemination strategy with project partners
• Prepare knowledge translation tools
• Report writing
• Oversee tasks of research assistants

Additional tasks may include:
• Entering data into SPSS
• Data cleaning
• Importing qualitative data into NVivo


• Degree in social science or related discipline (Master’s level preferred)
• Experience in and understanding of qualitative research
• Experience in and understanding of research ethics
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work with minimal supervision
• Ability to quickly learn and master various computer applications
• Driver’s licence and ability to travel in NL, NB, and NS

Asset Qualifications:
• Knowledge of SEL 
• Experience researching and/or working with schools
• Experience with SPSS and/or NVivo
