UPEI Facilities Management Department invites applications for the position of Quality Assurance Officer, who will report to the Manager of Capital Projects & Maintenance.  The individual will be working on the construction of the new School of Sustainable Design Engineering; the Quality Assurance Officer will conduct daily site inspections while providing technical support and quality assurance on behalf of the University.

DUTIES

• Responsible for daily site inspections while monitoring the construction progress and quality, identify any problems and alternative solutions.
• Ensure safety standards and procedures are maintained according to the UPEI Municipal and Provincial codes and standards throughout the project.
• Maintenance of deficiencies and produce reports for supervisor.
• Conduct research and review designs to provide input at design meetings.
• Assist with the scheduling of contractors work, including construction schedule, shop drawing submissions and approval of material and equipment deliver date confirmation.
• Assist with the project changes and advise how these changes may impact construction and budget.
• Ensure contract documents are kept up to date.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Two year Post-Secondary Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Technologist is required.
• Minimum 5 years’ related work experience is required.
• Certified Mechanical or Electrical Technologist, or equivalent education and related work experience. 
• Experience working with and knowledge of WCB Act, OH&S Act, Municipal & Provincial codes.
• Working knowledge of construction material, means and methods.
