UPEI Facilities Management Department invites applications for the position of Assistant Manager, Project and Maintenance, who will be a member of the management team and will report to the Manager of Capital Projects & Maintenance.   In consultation with the Manager, this position represents the Department and University when meeting with outside agencies, including Federal, Provincial, City Officials and consultants with regard to matters affecting the planning, design and construction of a project.  In this role, the individual would manage all areas of safety at the department level along with inventory control for the maintenance department. 


• Responsible for regular site inspections with the consultants.
• Ensure compliance with contract requirements as contained in the plans and specification.
• Assist with managing dedicated resources, consultants, and budgets.
• Responsible for overseeing multiple projects and preparation of Request for Proposals.
• Assisting in developing equipment requirements for projects.
• Assist in the coordinating in the selection of consultants(s) contractor(s)/vendor(s) and manages agreements.
• Ensures safety standards and procedures are maintained according to the UPEI, Municipal and Provincial codes and standards throughout the project, including Workers Compensation and OH&S Act.  This includes regular site visits.


• Post-Secondary Diploma in Construction Technology and a Management Diploma or equivalent education and related experience.
• Minimum 5 years current capital project management experience in large and small renovation and construction projects of varying complexity.
• Supervisory experience, preferable in a unionized environment.
• Proven experience in coordinating multiple projects in a unionized environment with sound professional judgment, initiative, leadership, effective motivation and delegation
• Working knowledge of construction material, means and methods.
• Experience working with computers and related software such as MS Project.
