The Department of Companion Animals at the Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC), University of Prince Edward Island, invites applications for a full-time tenure track faculty position in cardiology.  Appointment will be made at the Assistant or Associate professor level.

The successful applicant will join an established cardiology department with one faculty member and an ACVIM approved residency program. The Cardiology Service has grown from its inception in 2004 to currently providing a full range of cardiovascular diagnostics and therapeutics using a Philips Epiq 7 echocardiography system (2D/3D/4D, pediatric and adult TEE), C-arm and operating room with catheter/device inventory, new Trillium/Forest Holter system, Philips PageWriter ECG, cardiac event monitors (King of Hearts), Doppler blood pressure measurement units, etc.               
                   
Responsibilities include teaching in the DVM undergraduate and graduate programs, providing clinical service in the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, using the clinical caseload and basic research facilities to pursue original research, and contributing to extension and continuing education programs.

The successful candidate will have:
• A DVM (or equivalent) degree
• Successfully completed a formal training program in cardiology
• Demonstrated teaching ability
• Well-developed skills of collaboration, relationship building and communication
• Eligibility for licensure with the Prince Edward Island Veterinary Medical Association.

Preference will be given to candidates with diplomate status in the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (Cardiology) or European College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (Cardiology).  A graduate degree is desirable but not mandatory.

The salary will be commensurate with credentials and experience.  Full-time, permanent faculty members receive a comprehensive fringe benefit package, with benefit details provided at time of offer in accordance with the collective agreement.  This appointment is subject to budgetary approval.
