$50,347 to $55,378 per annum, as per CUPE 1870

The Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH) of the Atlantic Veterinary College is seeking applications from qualified individuals for a permanent full-time lead hand in the dispensary.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position is a leadership position within the VTH and works directly with the VTH director to accomplish the following tasks:
• The incumbent will assist in the day to day operation of the dispensary including assisting the Director with budget and inventory management, and the distribution of duties among the dispensary staff
• In addition, this person will assist staff with dispensing, distributing and record keeping as well as restocking of prescription, non-prescription and controlled drugs in the Dispensary or related areas
• They will also assist with receiving, issuing and entering drugs and/or information on computer as well as repackaging and compounding of drugs and preparations or fluids
• The position will assist in communication with VTH clients and clinicians and any other related duties as directed by the Hospital Director

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Successful completion of a Veterinary Technician program accredited by the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association, or completion of a Pharmacy Technician program that recognizes the National Association of Pharmacy Regulatory Authorities competencies
• Must have 2 years of experience in a veterinary clinic or hospital
• Must have 2 years of experience in a dispensary or pharmacy setting
• Experience in budget, inventory, or personnel administration is an asset
• Must be familiar with controlled drug acts and record keeping practices to maintain accreditation with the PEIVMA
• Experience working in an academic or referral practice environment is an asset
• Must have excellent written and oral communication skills
