$46,207 per annum, prorated to term as per CUPE 1870 (salary under review)

January 2012 to January 2013 (Term may be reduced or extended depending on performance, available funding and departmental requirements.)

The Centre for Lifelong Learning at UPEI is looking for an E-Learning Instructional Designer. This person would assist faculty by consulting in the design, development, and delivery of blended and online courses. The position is both a support position for faculty already committed to working in an online environment and a training/outreach position to facilitate integration of digital technologies in learning and teaching by faculty and students. The successful candidate will have the right blend of technical expertise, educational experience and people skills required to provide the best support possible to various members of the UPEI community.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Specific duties include:
● Providing consultation and support for faculty and students;
● Mentoring faculty on a one-to-one basis to support course design and adoption/integration of digital technologies in teaching;
● Conducting workshops face-to-face and online;
● Creating guidelines, training tools and learning resources to support faculty designing online and/or blended courses;
● Providing instructional design services;
● Promoting and supporting the use of the ‘UPEI digital toolkit’;
● Researching and sharing with faculty and students current trends in integration of digital technologies in teaching and learning in multiple educational contexts.
QUALIFICATIONS:
We are seeking a person with:
● A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in an area related to online instructional design;
● Experience working in an online instructional environment, preferably within a university or college setting;
● Experience with course management systems and online/distance learning delivery;
● Knowledge of instructional design and pedagogical practices for online and blended learning;
● Ability to conduct training and provide support to faculty face-to-face and at a distance;
● Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communications skills; proficiency in French, cross-cultural experience and familiarity with global communication networks would be assets;
● Ability to prioritize, organize and manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision;
● Experience with tracking progress in online learning;
● Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
● Awareness of and experience with social media technologies;
● Competencies in Moodle, Wordpress, Drupal, Google Apps, Blackboard
● Collaborate, and various sound and video editing programs would be assets.
