Director of Business Transformation for Students - Information Technology Systems and Services
Five (5) Year Term (Term may be reduced or extended depending on performance, available funding and departmental requirements)
The University of Prince Edward Island invites applications for the position of Director of Business Transformation for Students. The successful candidate will work as part of the Student Experience Hub in collaboration with the IT Systems and Services Department (ITSS). The Director is the main point of contact and the responsible party for managing process and technological change within the Department, while minimizing associated risk factors and addressing the evolving needs of the campus. This position must understand the current goals and objects of the Department, research and recommend positive changes (in conjunction with ITSS) and manage the steps required to make the improvements whether it is upgrading technology, changing processes to improve efficiency, or standardizing procedures to facilitate data analysis.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Serves as the trusted Leader and Manager of the business change function and acts as the first point of contact for transformation within the Department
• Works collaboratively with identified ITSS staff on proposed process change and technology configuration
• Provides coaching and support to organizational stakeholders as they transition to new technologies and business processes
• Facilitates workshops to educate the campus community on new processes and technology changes
• Identifies potential impacts of process and/or technological change while utilizing outstanding problem-solving skills to develop quick and effective solutions
• Provides project management leadership including development of standardized best practices and the creation and management of work plans to meet the goals of the Department
• Understands the strategic goals of the Academic Plan and provides recommendations on Departmental changes which will further support its initiatives
• Develops and monitors Departmental metrics to provide insight and recommendations on areas of improvement and identification of areas of success
QUALIFICATIONS:
• University degree in the field of Business Administration or Information Systems with a Master’s degree in strategic management or business administration
• PMP Certification or equivalent experience
• A minimum of 7 years of experience with higher education institutions and proven project experience in a large-scale IT environment
• A thorough understanding of student information systems within higher education institutions
• Experience implementing an ERP system, preferably within Ellucian Colleague
• Demonstrated expertise in business change and program management, including knowledge of change management methodology, communications techniques and project management software, such as MS Project
• Demonstrated leadership, people management, team building and coaching skills in an operational environment, including strong written and verbal communication skills
• Technical Competence and proficient understanding of platforms, database concepts, product development methodologies, current internet technologies and software programs, such as Google Docs, MS Project, Process Modeling
• Proven experience in data governance, data analytics and reporting
• Experience using reporting and data analytics software and platforms such as Business Objects, Pentaho, Tableau, Microsoft SQL and Microsoft Excel
