Two-Year Term Faculty Position

The Department of Companion Animals at the Atlantic Veterinary College, University of Prince Edward Island, invites applications for a two year term faculty position in Community Practice, with the possibility of renewal pending budgetary approval. Appointment will be made at the Lecturer or Assistant Professor level.

The successful applicant will join an established Community Practice program with two full-time community practice veterinarians and 1 technician.  Job duties and responsibilities include teaching in undergraduate and graduate programs, providing clinical service in the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, and contributing to extension and continuing education programs. 

The successful candidate will have:
• A DVM (or equivalent) degree
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience as a licensed small animal practitioner
• Demonstrated teaching ability
• Demonstrated skill in routine small animal surgical procedures and dentistry
• Well-developed skills of collaboration, relationship building and communication
• Eligibility for licensure with the Prince Edward Island Veterinary Medical Association 

Preference will be given to candidates with diplomate status in the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners. A minimum of two years’ experience with exotic pets is highly desirable. A graduate degree is desirable but not mandatory.

The salary range is $80,000 - $100,000 annually, commensurate with credentials and experience.  Full time, term faculty members receive a comprehensive fringe benefit package, with benefit details provided at time of offer in accordance with the collective agreement.  This appointment is subject to budgetary approval.
