The University of Prince Edward Island is currently seeking a Dean to lead its Faculty of Education. The initial search will be open to current full time faculty members at UPEI, with tenure at the rank of Associate or Full Professor.

The term of office of the Dean shall be six years with a formal review after three years.

The University of Prince Edward Island seeks candidates for the position of Dean of Education. The Dean will head up an innovative team of educators committed to developing compassionate and dynamic teachers, and to making scholarly and professional contributions in local and global communities.

The Faculty of Education offers BEd programs in Teaching French Immersion and in Adult Education, as well as BEd programs with a focus on Indigenous Education and on International Education. In addition, the Faculty of Education currently offers a Master of Education program in Leadership in Learning in a cohort-based model with varying foci, including: 21st Century Teaching and Learning, Community College Educators, Inclusion and Literacy, and Global Perspectives. The Faculty of Education also offers certificates in Inclusive Education, in School Librarianship, and an outreach Certificate in Educational Leadership in Nunavut (CELN). The Faculty of Education is proud to offer a dynamic PhD program, now in its fourth year, with a committed group of PhD candidates and faculty members.  In total, the Faculty of Education currently serves approximately 75 BEd and 150 graduate students.

Reporting to the Vice-President Academic, the Dean will have a personal passion for teaching and an ability to continue building a student-centred approach to the Faculty of Education and the University. The Dean will be an advocate for the Faculty of Education within the context of her/his broader role as a member of the senior management team. The Dean will bring his/her commitment to excellence in scholarship and community service to the position. A PhD designation or equivalent, a proven track record of administrative leadership and strong research and teaching records are requirements for this position.
