RESPONSIBILITIES:
As an active member of a team of researchers, the Research Associate will:
• Assist in participant recruitment
• Organize interviews, focus groups, and meetings
• Assist in data collection
• Assist in data analysis
• Assist in the preparation of written reports and slides for dissemination
• Conduct literature searches/reviews
• Transcribe interviews & focus group data and prepare data for analysis
• Assist in the interpretation of research findings
• Developing strategies for knowledge translation
• Maintain and update a file of current research literature
• Manage office functions, scheduling, room bookings, space requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Ability to contribute meaningful ideas and work productively with other research team members as well as on independent assignments
• Ability to communicate effectively, clearly, and professionally
• Experience in the use of digital media (social networking, wikis, blogs, etc.)
• Applicants should be motivated and self-directed, literate in computer and information technologies
• Attention to detail and the ability to keep information confidentiality are required
• Ability to prioritize and organize work
• Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
Asset qualifications:
• Experience in conducting collaborative qualitative research with and for young people
• Experience in community development work with and for young people
• A Master’s degree (completed) and/or PhD in progress in Social Science or Education
• Working knowledge of NVivo 9 and/or other textual analysis software
• Experience in working effectively with and for young people
