Dr. Trung Dung Ngo is seeking one student research assistant to work on a project of developing robotic snow remover.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Students will work under supervision of Dr. Trung Ngo to:

  • Design a prototype of robotic snow remover
  • Develop a switching control system (RC vs. autonomous) for this remover
  • Carry out experiments and data collection of the robot in lab and on field
  • Perform data interpretation and analysis
  • Prepare technical reports of new findings and disseminate results to workshops, conferences, and journals
  • Present results to industrial partners and public audience if requested

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • The students must have good knowledge about mechatronic systems, specifically about embedded programming, sensors, actuators, and mechatronic system integration (e.g. having completed ENGN 3340 course)
  • Hands-on experiences with CAD drawing, 3D printing fabrication, signal processing, measurement and estimation are asset
  • Ability to process and report data with software tools e.g. Microsoft Excel and/or Matlab
  • Pro-active and self-organized working attitudes
  • Good level of writing and analytical skills
  • Enthusiasm in exploring and studying new knowledge (Robotics, Automation, AI)
