The Financial Services office invites applications from qualified individuals to provide Shipping/Receiving services for the UPEI campus. The successful applicant will report to the Assistant Manager of Procurement and Payment Services, and be under the supervision of the Shipping/Receiving Supervisor.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Receiving, sorting, and distribution of all mail for UPEI campus via postal mail boxes and a specified mail route on campus
• Receiving and posting all outgoing mail via our postage meter, including registered mail, mail courier and special deliveries
• Providing detailed accounting for all postal transactions
• Receive and process all incoming goods at central receiving as per various responsibilities
• Process and ship all outgoing goods with duties such as preparing computerized documents; assist and advise campus staff on proper packing & labeling procedures and best-ship method options
• Ensure dangerous goods are properly labeled, categorized and packaged according to Federal Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG & IATA) regulations
• Ensure shipping authorization form is complete including allocation of charges and proper signing authority
• Operation of loading dock equipment
• Moderate & constant lifting
• Other duties and responsibilities applicable to Shipping/Receiving functions, including data input and asset tagging for campus inventory control

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum Grade 12 education plus 1 year post-secondary
• Relative clerical training and minimum one (1) year progressive related work experience in Mail and Shipping/Receiving environments; or an equivalent combination of training and experience
• Must have basic computer skills and experience with adapting to different software programs
• Excellent customer service skills, including initiative, flexibility, problem solving and follow through
• Organizational abilities
• Ability to work independently and with others
• Effective interpersonal, oral and written skills
• Good knowledge of the campus environment would be an asset
• Current certification in TDG - Transportation of Dangerous Goods - for land and air shipments or ability to acquire the same
• Good physical condition
• Must have vehicle for off-campus mail deliveries
• Incumbent must be bondable
