The Faculty of Education, the Department of Modern Languages in the Faculty of Arts and College de l’Île are working together to build a French undergraduate program. High school French Immersion and French first language graduates are the target audience for such a program. Successful graduates of this program would be conditionally accepted to the Bachelor of Education français langue seconde program at UPEI.

This program development will require work to be done in multiple areas, including: curriculum/program development; the development of articulations between institutions and Faculties; budgeting for the program; communications and collaborations among the stakeholders, including the PEI Public Schools Branch and La Commission scolaire de langue française; and the writing of a program submission to the Maritime Provinces Higher Education Commission (MPHEC).

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to the Dean of the Faculty of Education, the successful candidate will be expected to perform the following duties:

• Facilitate interaction and communication between Faculty of Education, Modern Languages in the Faculty of Arts and College de l’Île and other stakeholders
• Provide project management for the development of the program including the writing of a Memorandum of Understanding, and developing and monitoring milestones
• Write a report for stakeholder review
• Write an MPHEC program submission
• Manage project budget, in consultation with the Dean of Education
• Purchase required supplies and ensure expenses are recorded accurately and in a timely fashion

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Candidates require a Bachelor of Education degree in a related field and have a minimum two years relevant experience in a post-secondary context and/or in a project management role or a combination of experience and minimum education
• Familiarity with university processes and policies and external funding organizations is an asset
• The candidate should be fully bilingual (English and French)

The ideal candidate’s previous work experience will demonstrate:
• Experience in collaborative, multi-partner environments
• Experience planning projects, managing and tracking schedules and milestones, and keeping accurate records
• Experience organizing events, workshops, multi-stakeholder meetings
• Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
• Excellent organizational skills and time management skills
• Demonstrated computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets applications and charts/graphs
