Some weekend and evening hours are required. We are interested in students with strong writing skills and from a range of disciplines, including business and the sciences.
Writing Centre Assistants work one-on-one with students to help them become more proficient writers and critical thinkers. Assistants report to the Writing Centre Coordinator and will be required to attend training sessions and staff meetings throughout the year. When not providing coaching in writing skills, assistants will be expected to maintain learning resources and the Writing Lounge, visit classrooms to promote the Writing Centre and perform other duties as required.
Preference will be given to second- and third-year students. Applicants must have completed English 101 or equivalent writing intensive courses, supply a reference from a professor familiar with the applicant's writing, and provide a writing sample.
