Working as a senior member of the Project Beacon Team, the Business Process Analyst works collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders and consultants to implement and enhance the university's IT systems by analyzing requirements; designing processes; and recommending system solutions. The Business Process Analyst will work closely with Project Managers, Process Owners, and staff members to define requirements and to facilitate the successful development and implementation of processes, system enhancements, and complementary technology solutions. This individual will apply proven management, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help maximize the benefit of IT system investments and to facilitate implementing new IT systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Identifying and charting existing business processes in order to define current business activities for the development of procedures and models which will be re-engineered as part of our continuous improvement approach
• Reviewing and working with relevant confidential departmental data
• Creating process models, specifications, and charts to provide direction to System Analysts, Business Intelligence Analysts, and Technical Business Analysts
• Developing operational reports for departmental use
• Taking inventory of system related documents, reports, policies etc.
• Developing prototype procedures for the purpose of enhancing business processes, operations, and information process flow
• Preparing and delivering reports, recommendations, or alternatives for improving processes in operating systems across the organization
• Meeting milestone dates for major task completion
• Collaborating in the planning, design, development, and deployment of new applications, and enhancements to existing applications
• Facilitating and participate in unit meetings with decision makers, systems owners, and end users to define business, financial, and operations requirements and systems goals
• Liaising with project teams and unit members on an ongoing basis
• Communicating process changes, enhancements, and modifications – verbal or through written documentation – to management, peers, staff, and other employees so that issues and solutions are understood
• Assisting in and directing the completion of training manuals
• Identifying and establishing scope and parameters of process analysis in order to define impact, outcome criteria, and measure-taking actions

QUALIFICATIONS:

• University degree in the field of business, computer science, finance, or management information systems and 5 years related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
• Business Analyst Certification or equivalent work experience
• Proven experience with business and technical requirements analysis, business process modeling/mapping, methodology development, and data modeling
• Experience working at a post-secondary educational institution would be an asset
• Demonstrated experience working with highly confidential materials
• Experience overseeing the design, development, and implementation of software and hardware solutions, systems, or products
• Extensive practical knowledge in importing data for use in report software, spreadsheets, graphs, and flowcharts
• Ability to create systematic and manual operations procedures in both technical and user-friendly language
• Ability to apply statistical and other research methods into systems issues and products as required
• Competent and proficient understanding of platforms
• Technically competent with various software programs, such as Google Docs, MS Project, Process Modeling
• Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential
• Ability to read communication styles of team members and contractors who come from a broad spectrum of disciplines
• Ability to reliably prioritize and complete many detailed oriented tasks with minimal supervision on a daily basis
• Ability to simultaneously manage competing priorities and assignments
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Adept at conducting research into project-related issues and products
• Must be able to learn, understand, and apply new technologies
• Customer service skills an asset
• Tenacious curiosity and drive for constant improvement
