The Department of History & Classics at the University of Prince Edward Island invites applications for a sessional instructor to teach the following course during the 2018 Fall Term (Sept 3-Dec 19, 2018):

Course: HIST 3040 - “Napoleon and the Legacy of the European Enlightenment"

This course combines lectures with classroom discussion to examine the meteoric career of Napoleon Bonaparte within the larger context of the European Enlightenment. Specific topics include the French Revolution, the rise of Napoleon, the Scientific Revolution, enlightened despotism, romanticism, and nationalism.

Qualifications:

Successful applicants should have a minimum of a Master’s degree in History or a related discipline, and teaching and/or research experience focussing on the European Enlightenment and the impact of Napoleon on European history. Qualified applicants on the UPEI Sessional Roster of the Department of History & Classics will be given priority.

This position is subject to budgetary approval.
