$11.51 per hour (vacation pay included)

The Tourism Research Centre (TRC), housed in the School of Business Administration on the UPEI campus, is an independent body providing timely, accurate and professional research on the tourism industry. Throughout September 2012, the TRC requires vibrant individuals who will, under the supervision of the Research Manager, serve as Research Assistants.
The Research Assistants will be primarily involved in field work distributing and collecting surveys onsite at various festivals, events, and performances across PEI. The schedule is not consistent from week to week, but work will be available on weekends and occasional evenings throughout September and possibly October. The successful candidates must be extremely comfortable approaching strangers, reliable, and have strong verbal communication skills. Conversational French would be an asset. The student(s) will be expected to provide his or her own transportation though car pooling opportunities will be available. You will be paid for driving time. If you are the driving for a particular shift, you will be paid mileage.
• Field work collecting data/circulating surveys
• Comfortable working with the public and approaching strangers
• Ability to work with minimal supervision
• Communication skills
• Conversational French would be an asset
