 The Tourism Research Centre (TRC), housed in the School of Business Administration on the UPEI campus, is an independent body providing timely, accurate and professional research on the tourism industry. From December 2013 to April 2014, the TRC requires vibrant individuals who will serve as Research Assistants. RESPONSIBILITIES: The Research Assistants will be primarily involved in field work collecting attendee contact information onsite at events that are part of the PEI 2014 celebrations (New Year’s Eve celebration and East Coast Music Association Awards). Research Assistants may also assist with the distribution of the PEI visitor exit survey. The schedule is not consistent from week to week, but work will be available evenings and weekends during the two events mentioned above, as well as other potential work. The successful candidates must be extremely comfortable approaching strangers, reliable, and have strong verbal communication skills. Conversational French would be an asset. The student(s) will be expected to provide his or her own transportation though car pooling opportunities will be available. You will be paid for driving time. If you are the driving for a particular shift, you will be paid mileage. QUALIFICATIONS: • Comfortable working with the public and approaching strangers • Must have a valid driver’s license • Ability to work with minimal supervision • Communication skills • Conversational French would be an asset Priority to University of Prince Edward Island students in accordance with Recruitment, Selection, Hiring and Employment Policies and Procedures manual.
