The School of Nursing is looking to hire 1 - 2 Undergraduate Student Research Assistants, required to support planning, data collection, transcription, analysis and dissemination for a project titled: Exploring Intergenerational Family Stories of Coming and Going Due to Temporary Employment in the Oil and Gas sectors of Northern Alberta: A Tale of Two Islands (SSHRC funded). This project will explore how the coming and going of loved ones for employment in the oil and gas sectors is impacting intergenerational family members and rural communities across Prince Edward Island and Cape Breton Island. 
The Undergraduate Research Assistant(s) hired for this project will work under the direct supervision of Dr. Christina Murray.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Conducting systematic literature reviews.
• Assisting the research team with conversational and focus group interview materials.
• Transcribing interviews.
• Assisting the research team in analyzing data.
• Assisting the research team in disseminating findings

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Ability to work well independently as well as in a team setting.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Word. 
• Interest in labor migration and the socioeconomic impacts of temporary labor migration on families and communities.
• Knowledge of Refworks and skills in library and computerized literature searches.
• Organized and manages time efficiently and effectively.
• Must have a valid driver’s license, and able to travel throughout PEI.
• Available to attend a mandatory Research Team Mentorship Retreat in Nova Scotia, the weekend of September 11-13, 2015.

Asset Qualification:
• Experience in and understanding of qualitative research
• Experience with qualitative research software such as Nvivo
• Familiarity with voice to text software such as Dragon Dictate.
