Approximately 6 to 10 hours per week. Work schedule will vary.

$10.74 per hour (vacation pay included)

January 2014 to April 30, 2014

 The Writing Centre is looking for students to work as Student Mentors to work up to 10 hours per week during the school year, with time off during exam periods. Some weekend and evening hours are required. We are interested in students with strong writing skills and a passion for writing, and also students from a range of disciplines, including business and the sciences. Second language experience is an asset.
Writing Centre Student Mentors primarily work one-on-one with undergraduate students to help them become more proficient writers and critical thinkers. Mentors are also expected to maintain the Writing Lounge, visit classrooms to promote the Writing Centre, and perform other duties as required. Mentors work closely with the Writing Centre Coordinator (to whom they report), and are required to attend regularly scheduled training sessions and staff meetings throughout the year.
Preference will be given to applicants who have completed/or are in the process of completing English 101 or equivalent writing intensive courses.
Priority to University of Prince Edward Island students in accordance with Recruitment, Selection, Hiring and Employment Policies and Procedures manual.
