Dr. Pedro Quijon (Biology Department) is seeking to hire a short-term student/research assistant to help with crab behavior research experiments to be conducted in September-October 2016 in the laboratory and the field (Basin Head, PEI).

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The student will assist with the handling of green crabs, Irish moss clumps and other marine invertebrates. The student will need to work on flexible (at times odd) hours due to tide and weather conditions, and the monitoring of laboratory experiments. Experience gathered from previous volunteer work on the topic will be a strong asset. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must be able to drive large vehicles (truck) and experience with canoes/kayaks (for Basin Head)
• Must have experience working with animals (e.g. human society)
• Must be a senior or recent graduate from Biology or Psychology program with good grades
• Must be fully available to work odd hours in basin Head and lab facilities
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in the lab and the field

Priority will be given to University of Prince Edward Island students in accordance with Recruitment, Selection, Hiring and Employment Policies and Procedures manual.
