Dr. Tim Goddard in the Faculty of Education is seeking two graduate students to join his research team. The successful candidates will assist in a project which seeks to determine to what extent, and how, school principals on Prince Edward Island understand and enact principles of social justice in their work. Data will be collected through interviews, survey questionnaires, and field notes. Participants include principals from across Prince Edward Island.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Monitor drop-box and other international initiatives related to the International School Leadership Development Network (ISLDN).
• Assist with ongoing review of relevant literature.
• Assist with data collection (individual interviews) in different locations across PEI.
• Ensure comprehensive filing, organization and secure maintenance of data.
• Transcribe interview data.
• Assist with individual and comparative data analysis processes (using both qualitative and quantitative methodologies).
• Assist with development of survey instruments.
• Contribute to the preparation of research presentations, articles, and reports.
• Assist in development of a proposal for a national study.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Graduate students in Education or a related research discipline.
• Strong qualitative and/or quantitative research skills.
• Good knowledge and understanding of research procedures.
• Experience in education-related research activities and/or projects.
• Good knowledge and understanding of the PEI school system and environment.
• Strong knowledge and understanding of issues related to social justice in education.
• Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
• High degree of computer literacy (e.g., familiarity with nVivo, SPSS, google apps, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, online communication tools).
• Experience in working effectively in research team environments.
