Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Communications, the successful applicant will assist with the development and implementation of marketing plans for the University of Prince Edward Island, supervise marketing staff, and coordinate promotional programs.  This position requires excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills and the ability to develop marketing programs with a wide range of internal and external contacts.

The Marketing Manager is a member of the Marketing and Communications team and works independently under the supervision of the Director of Marketing and Communications.  This position will also work closely with other Marketing and Communications team members and internal University clients.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work on the development and implementation of specialized marketing and promotion initiatives, including implementing marketing campaigns against a clear set of objectives and market insights
• Assist with the development and management of marketing budgets and media plans based on a strong understanding of consumer and market insights as well as the marketing cycle for the university
• Make independent decisions and recommendations in areas of prioritizing, planning, and executing marketing programs
• Exercise judgment and tact in dealing with staff, faculty members, students, alumni, and other stakeholders both across the University and externally
• Prepare reports measuring marketing programs including paid, earned, and owned media activity for the department
• Coordinate marketing project meetings including agenda development, forward-action capture, timeline development and follow-up

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 3-5 years of related experience, preferably in a complex organization with demonstrated success in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of marketing programs including the application of a variety of marketing tools/vehicles and platforms to coordinate and measure evidence-based marketing programs
• Undergraduate degree in a relevant academic discipline (marketing, communications, business)
• Proven organizational, communication (both written and verbal), customer service, team and project management skills
• Experience supervising staff with a focus on team engagement, resource management and project delivery
• Demonstrated experience in media planning and implementation of campaigns using multiple marketing channels including print, digital marketing, SEO/SEM, social media, event marketing/promotions, direct marketing, traditional marketing (print, tv, radio)
• Demonstrated experience and understanding of customer relationship marketing (CRM) processes and programs
• Experience in a marketing/advertising agency environment considered an asset
• Proficiency is required in the use of word processing, database and spreadsheet, presentation, email and electronic calendar software (i.e. MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Google Mail & Calendar)
