The Department of Pathology and Microbiology at the Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC), University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI) invites applications for a full-time tenure track faculty position in clinical pathology. This appointment is expected to be made at the rank of Assistant Professor.  UPEI is committed to teaching, service and research. It has full accreditation by the AVMA/CVMA and delivers DVM, MSc, MVSc and PhD programs. 

The successful candidate will have primary duties in the instruction of undergraduate and graduate courses in veterinary clinical pathology and diagnostic service duty.  Additional duties will include independent and collaborative research with an optimal emphasis on laboratory test development and validation.  Participation in the graduate program will mainly involve training within the MVSc-residency program.  The diagnostic clinical pathology laboratory at the AVC has state of the art equipment and is staffed with contributions from 3 ACVP board certified clinical pathologists and 6 staff members.  It provides high quality service to both the AVC hospital and clients from the 4 Atlantic Canadian provinces.

The successful candidate will:

• Have teaching skills.
• Have a DVM or equivalent degree.
• Be board certified or board eligible by the ACVP in clinical pathology.
• Hold a graduate degree in veterinary clinical pathology.
• Possess well-developed skills of collaboration, relationship building and communication.
• Be eligible for licensure with the Prince Edward Island Veterinary Medical Association.

The salary range is $85,000 - $110,000 CAD, dependent on qualifications and experience.  Full-time, permanent faculty receive a comprehensive fringe benefit package, with benefit details provided at time of offer in accordance with the collective agreement.  This appointment is subject to final budgetary approval.

The AVC is located on the campus of UPEI in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island (PEI).
