The University of Prince Edward Island seeks candidates for the position of Dean of Education. The Dean will lead an innovative Faculty of Education committed to developing compassionate, dynamic teachers and leaders making scholarly and professional contributions in local and global communities. The Faculty of Education offers pre-service, graduate, and professional development programs with exciting specializations in International Education, Indigenous Education, and François Langue Seconde. Graduate programs include an MEd Leadership in Learning and a PhD in Educational Studies. In addition, the Faculty offers MEd and leadership certificate programs in Nunavut. Research and collaborative educational projects provide a major focus for Faculty members.
The successful candidate will:
• have an established scholarly and research record and demonstrated excellence in academic leadership,
• lead in the enhancement of teaching excellence at UPEI, and in the professional community of PEI and beyond,
• play a leadership role in mentoring and developing research within the Faculty of Education and contribute to the research culture within the university,
• demonstrate innovative leadership in a student-centred, dynamic, change-oriented environment,
• possess well-developed interpersonal skills essential in maintaining and initiating collaborations within and outside the University,
• serve as a member of the University’s senior management team, reporting to the Vice President Academic,
• become Dean of a dynamic Faculty of Education committed to the ongoing development of local, national and international scholarship and outreach in educational programs, relationships and research.
