The School of Mathematical and Computational Sciences is seeking a number of student assistants to provide tutoring in the SMCS Help Centre and in CS 151 and 152 Labs and Tutorials.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• The successful candidates will report to SMCS Education Facilitators Chris Vessey (CS section) and Justin Gulati (Math section)
•  Student tutors working in the SMCS Help Centre will provide assistance to students in either introductory Computer Science courses or introductory Mathematics and Statistics courses. The SMCS Help Centre operates most mornings (for Computer Science assistance) and afternoons (for Mathematics and Statistics assistance)
• Student tutors working in CS 151 and CS 152 Labs will assist the Lab Instructor to provide Lab support to students
• Student tutors working in CS 151 and CS 152 Tutorials will work in a classroom setting to assist students

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Preference will be given to third or fourth-year majors in the School of Mathematical and Computational Sciences who possess the background knowledge in either Computer Science or Mathematics and Statistics. Exceptional second year majors in the School of Mathematical and Computational Sciences are also encouraged to apply
• Applicants should also have good communication and presentation skills

Priority will be given to University of Prince Edward Island students in accordance with Recruitment, Selection, Hiring and Employment Policies and Procedures manual.
