Reporting to the Comptroller, this position will be responsible for the following duties:


• Assist the Comptroller in the daily and annual oversight and management of the University budgeting processes including:

  • Overall management of the detailed operating budgets for the University operating budget
  • Development of various budget reports for both internal and external stakeholders
  • Providing financial advice and guidance to various deans, directors and other members of the university community regarding their operating budgets
  • Participate in development of budget estimates for major cost drivers in the budget process

• Manage and be directly responsible for all processes relating to several external audits including:

  • Managing scheduling and staffing assignments related to all external audits
  • Supervision and review of  all audit working papers
  • Preparation of all financial statements
  • Meeting appropriate deadlines
  • Prepare appropriate CRA filings

• Assist the Comptroller with the ongoing investment accounting, analysis and reporting for the University Pension Plan, Endowment and Operations. Provide support to the various university investment committees.

• Provide financial oversight and leadership in the management of the University endowment and trust accounts.

• Provide support to the capital budgeting process.

• Provide financial leadership to all financial managers and supervisors in the areas of financial reporting, not-for-profit accounting, taxation and internal control.

• Provide support to the Comptroller with various projects as required.

• Other related duties as assigned.


• Professional Accounting Designation (CPA, CA, CMA, CGA)
• 3 to 5 years related experience
• Extensive experience in the area of external audit and financial statement preparation
• Proficiency in spreadsheet, data extraction software and other business software
